TIFF TO TEXT (OCR)

Home Image Tools TIFF to Text (OCR)

Extract the text from a scanned TIFF using OCR.

Your file is uploaded only for the moment it takes to convert, then deleted from the server straight away. It is never stored, indexed, or shared.

What Makes OCR Accurate

Optical character recognition is far more sensitive to how a page was scanned than to what it says. Three things dominate accuracy: resolution, where 300 DPI is the point of diminishing returns and anything under 200 degrades sharply; contrast, since grey text on a grey background gives the recogniser little to work with; and skew, because even a couple of degrees of rotation measurably hurts line detection. A clean 300 DPI black-on-white scan typically comes back near-perfect. A photographed page at an angle will not.

Privacy Note

This conversion runs on our server. Your file is uploaded only for the seconds the conversion takes and is deleted immediately afterwards — it is never stored, indexed, or shared. Accepted input: TIFF, TIF, up to 20 MB.

Key Features

  • Tesseract OCR, the same engine behind most open-source document pipelines
  • Output is a plain .txt file, ready to search or paste
  • Accuracy depends on scan quality — 300 DPI, high contrast and straight pages work best
  • Multi-page TIFFs are read from the first page
