Cover, Not Stretch
A collage puts images of different shapes into cells of one shape, and something has to give. Stretching each photo to fill its cell distorts it; letterboxing leaves uneven bands of background. This tool centre-crops instead — each image is scaled until it covers its cell and the overflow is trimmed equally from both sides, which is the same approach CSS object-fit: cover uses. Faces near the centre survive it; content right at the edge may not.
